blanket term -C.N. a closely related word or phrase that is uesd to describe multiple groups of related things. "Asian" is an umbrella term for people from China, Japan, Vietnam, India, etc. R&B may refer rhythm and blues, black pop music, black ballads, hip hop, funk, Motown  SEE ALSO -  umbrella term

Cartesian - N. a follower of Descartes

 

critique - N. a detailed analysis and assessment of something, esp. a literary, philosophycal, or political theory

designate - V. 1. appoint someone to a specified office or post 2. officially give a specified status or name to

 

disposition - C.N. a person's inherent qualities of mind and character 'he has the disposition of a saint'

subordinate - A. 1. lower in rank or position   2. of less or secondary importance

 

suvert - V. undermine the power and authority of an established system or institution

 

suversive - A. seeking or intended to subvert an established system or institution 'subversive literature'

umbrella term - C.N. a word or phrase that covers a wide range of concepts belonging to a common category. For example, "organs" is an unbrella term for the heart, lungs, stomach, kidney, etc. Electrical engineering can be anything electrical related were it electronics, electrical power, computing or control etc.  SEE ALSO - a blanket term

 

unruly - A. disorderly and disruptive and not amenable to discipline or control 'a group of unruly children'
